The immigrant refugee crisis is caused by the consequences of empire and capitalism. The authoritarian capitalist American empire is responsible for decades of South American regime change that undermined legitimate secular social democratic governments and inflicted predatory corporatist capitalism that extorts unpayable debt for natural resources, installs new Eichmann overlords, and causes poverty, austerity, and displacement, including manufactures the socio-economic circumstances that the violent drug cartels predate on. In America, conservative politicians run on social values and ‘law and order’ campaigns that distract and deflect from the domestic class warfare and neoliberal-caused poverty, austerity, and Durkheim’s ‘anomie’ complete with our own opioid and heroin epidemic at home, which the Southern hemisphere drug trade largely provides supply for. Meanwhile, the deep-state, corporate-prison industrial complex, and New Jim Crow prosecutes a for-profit drug war instead of government simply legalizing, regulating, and taxing recreational substances. Additional causes are America’s failure to address climate change, and instead recklessly pursue fossil fuel production that exacerbates producing the fossil fuel colossus, neoliberal conglomerate, monopolized industries, corporate-captured governments, socio-economic neo-feudalism, tortured environment, and climate refugees.
Summarily, the American implanted socially and economically conservative proxy governments have failed to promote the social and economic justice of education, reproductive rights, democracy, and living wages, which has caused demoralized, disenfranchised, and detached populations abandoned by their leadership that naturally seek a better, safer place. All these actions drive poverty, illiteracy, austerity, violence, and displaced populations desperately seeking safety, hope, humanity, and meaning anywhere else. These abused desperate populations do not yet necessarily realize that America is both the cause of their problems, and due to internal neoliberal and authoritarian implosion, no longer a recommended destination. In America, toxic racist predatory authoritarianism and capitalism is there waiting to commodify them upon arrival, entrap them into indentured servitude, and failing that tenuous predatory debt-peonage contract, direct deposit them into for-profit prisons.
