29. It seems from this that Maduro either completely ignored or grossly underestimated the power of multinational corporations to limit the effectiveness of socialism. In my opinion, in order to be effective, any state solution (nationalizing banks, etc. as William Robinson suggests) must go hand-in-hand with state and constitutional support for, and encouragement for the birth and growth of, workplace democracy (i.e. worker co-ops). Without this factor, large businesses will always have a huge advantage against the state.
