With witnesses disappearing and officers involved pleading the Fifth, the investigation into the police killing of Guardado is looking pretty damn sketchy. We speak with Memo Torres, director of partnerships for L.A. Taco, about the case. Also, the Seattle City Council voted to cut their police budget by 20%, but some residents argue it should be slashed by more. We speak with Seattle Councilmember Kshama Sawant about what defunding the police means in principle and looks like in practice.

The disappearance of the store manager who was a witness to the murder of Guardado has shades of the Dallas cop Amber Guyger who murdered Botham Jean in his own apartment and then the one witness to the crime, Joshua Brown, was mysteriously murdered soon after. Joshua Brown had said beforehand that he was terrified that the cops were going to take vengeance on him, and they probably did.

Not only should they be defunded, but they also must be held accountable for their abuse of power against the citizens they claim to serve and protect as well as these extra-judicial killings that in several cases clearly indicate there was no threat to their safety.
