  1. "With the intent to contain the Soviet Union." Close, but not Quite. It was to contain communism. Now, that sounds like it means the same thing, but it doesn't. For one, by being against a political position rather than a country, they justified to themselves a lot of rigged elections and suppressing of political groups in the West that had nothing to do with the USSR. From start to finish, NATO was always about control, not defense or containment.

  2. Why is it, that countries like Hungary, Slovakia and Luxembourg become member of NATO, since they were land lock countries or any other countries not bordering the Atlantic Ocean? just asking

  3. Let's get one thing very clear Real News, all Eastern Europe members not only support Nato membership they derive safety from having soldiers on the ground. How about you ask some people from those countries what they think ?

I mean seriously, Russia just invaded Ukraine and you pick this time to question Nato existence ? Ask Ukrainians the point of Nato.

  4. NATO is good for the spread of the suzerainty of free market globalization and imperial domination by a small number of occidental states.

The driving force is not military contractors nor the upholding of misguided western moral values, it is about the supremacy of the private not for profit sector and a world economy based on greed.

  5. NATO was a response to the fear of the mighty Soviet Union. we in America can sit back and act like we won the war against the Nazis all we want the truth is the Russians and they're absolutely horrific warfare is what one that war. And it terrified the allies.
