1. It is not just the Catholic church. Nobody are joining the Budhist Monestary or nunery.The decline of organised religion is a worldwide trend.

3. The patriarchy ruins everything it touches. The Catholic Church is rife with patriarchy, which is the all male priesthood. (Straight) Men dominating women and children, including LGBTQ+ people, and even men who question and challenge the patriarchy (who call out other men's bad behavior). Stand with the oppressed and eventually you'll become treated like the oppressed as Chris Hedges mentions in 0:58

4. 15:57 Priests who sexually abused children not excommunicated but ordained women later get excommunicated!? Catholic Church has existential crisis. Shame on the Catholic Church leadership and Catholics who aid and abet this gross injustice and don't call it out.

How can we in North America practise true Christian solidarity among ourselves when our governments are often demanding that double standards be applied to any kind of faith institution while they are oppressing any public expression of faith including being single while wearing of a habit or a clerical collar too? 17. The fact that this amazing brave and principled man was accused of "bringing shame to the Catholic Church" for his support of women in the priesthood is infuriating. What the Vatican really needs to do is end the celibacy requirement for priests; the only reason the celibacy requirement exists is because kings (& maybe popes) didn't want to risk the chance that priests would try to pass church property down to their children. But if priests had the chance to have normal healthy marriages and families, the priesthood would be less likely to attract all the sickos who end up abusing little children. Seems like a no brainer, but power structures in general do not like change, and the Catholic Church is a major power structure.

I walked away, ethics and morals intact. A clear conscience as well. I do not question that some folks need religion to acquire habits of charity towards all men. Once acquired, the church can become a crutch. And, as we all know, as long as we use a crutch we'll never learn to walk.
