  1. Cheney and Rumsfeld(and that recently-departed devil Kissinger) got away with a LOT of anti-social behavior and dirty tricks, calling their shenanigans "service to their country." The Ugly demise of the Shah of Iran was a splendid example; they lied to EVERYBODY and so everybody made massive mistakes, which hurt international relations in the Middle East to this day.

In the spring of 1976 I was in advanced electronic training for the US Army in Huntsville, AL, at the Missile School there. There were classes of Iranian technician trainees and crews there, for the Improved Hawk missile systems that the Iranians bought from the US. And, you know what? those Iranians just LOVED being in America and told us that most of their friends and family were big fans of the US.

It was true(at that time) but all over the Middle East, Muslim Fundamentalism was rearing it's ugly head, even then. It had began, in earnest, after the US helped Israel win the Yom Kippur War of 1973, which was the REAL cause of the famed "Oil Embargo"- there was NEVER really an oil shortage.

The reason I mention all this is that when the Shah left Iran with his family and entourage an a small fleet of 747s, he took with him a number of pallets of boxes of gold; a significant percentage of the national wealth of Iran. It turned out that the Shah was a difficult patient; he was demanding, and pretty uncooperative for a man dying of cancer.

The Shahs former country hated his guts and wanted him back so they could put him on trial and then roast him(or something). They were aware he'd taken all that gold, too(which had – not surprisingly – vanished); the furious Iranians kept asking President Carter about that gold for the rest of his presidency; and he had to tell them he had no idea.

Iran, which was a firm US Ally for 20 years, was transformed into a bubbling cauldron of Anti-American sentiment, which looks like it will stay that way. This state of affairs didn't happen by itself; it stinks of Kissinger's "Real-Politik" fuckery and his casual bloodthirsty greed – much like Cheney and Rumsfeld raped and looted their merry way through Bush43's presidency.

  2. D.Cheney = diabolical evil. For those who've watched the movie ghost, just picture the evil man near the end of the movie being dragged down to hell by imps and ghouls, that's dick.

  3. War with North Korea would have led to war with china as they back the north . Perhaps that is what they wanted. The u.s does not care about the people of North Korea . They see a natural resource rich land that is mostly untouched that they can exploit and a workforce they can exploit and abuse . I would love to see the people of North Korea become free and prosper not remain slaves workimg for a different master who wants go get rich of the backs of North koreans . North Korea needs to be put in the hands of the poeple and the development of the country and its resources need to benefit the people of North Korea .

  4. What about 9-11 debacle. Does anyone really believe the bullshit scenario we were told by Bush admin? Watch the videos with lots of pictures and decide for yourself.

  5. The US Government is just another Wing of the Pentagon. The Nation truly has no Elected Government by / for & of the People.

  6. I'm bumping that outtro music as my NYE jam.
Thank you The Real-News Network for giving great men like Col. Wilkerson a voice, and please don't change a single thing in the new year.
I saw that Paul Jay was thinking about giving "opposing viewpoints" more consideration, but this is a great folly if I have ever seen one. Please trust me, I know follies!

  7. Several of the commenters seem to be looking for answers to current problems, e.g. how do we place good people in office? There are no answers. The system, political and economic, suffers from arthritis and sepsis. The body politic needs more than a good tonic, a new antibiotic to bring it to life. We can analyze it, try to understand what led to this point of rot, for intellectual exercise. Anyone who thinks that at two minutes to midnight and with the Amazon forest about to be turned to total exploitation, civilization stands a chance on this planet, is a fool.

  8. When there are people like Larry Wilkerson and Colin Powell in the Republican Party, how in the hell do they run the clowns they do for office?

  9. I'm grateful for intelligent talk with specific focus and no flattery; I can watch when I chose. So much better than the days when such access was scarce enough, but also limited schedule timing. One doesn't need an hour of blah blah to confront questions of importane.

  10. I don't feel like taking this walk down memory lane. No past glory here. Thanks just same though, TRNN!
    HAPPY NEW YEAR!! 🎉🎇
    Please, don't drive drunk.

  11. Powell wouldn't allow China to become the " New Threat " because of the "Giant: The Global Power Elite " . The Global Power Elite wanted to suck all of the U.S manufacturing base to China.

  12. There is way too much talking about stuff we already know. The question is: what are you doing about it? Are you devoting your time, energy, resources, and talents to the political process, esp. the campaigns, to make sure that only the most Loving/most Wise among us become our public servants?
