Will Lula fix the crisis facing Brazil’s informal workers? | Workers of the World – Everything Law and Order Blog

Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was inaugurated as Brazil’s president on New Year’s Day. Half of all Brazilian workers are employed in the informal sector, working without protections or a contract. This segment of the working class was key to Bolsonaro’s defeat and Lula’s victory. Yet as the Lula government moves to forge alliances with the nation’s leading capitalists, questions remain as to whether informal workers can simply count on their new president to address their needs.

  1. Did you guys get paid for this? Nobody died from hunger, and they get a lot from the State for free. Why don't you ask these movement how much they make and who is paying them? In Brazil the public hospitals are responsibility of the States and not the Federal government. Bolsonaro could've made hospitals, sure, but so could Lula and the Workers party. They wanted to make stadiums for the world cup and not hospitals or schools. So, if you call yourself "Real News" you should do a little more research before talking about other countries.

  2. I think it’s hilarious that lady complaining about hunger, when she looks very well fed. Also that money for that weekend “Churrasquinho” is always there! 😂

  3. Lula is a corupted crook that won with 51% x49%. Right now reverting all reforms implemented by Paulo Guedes. Lula's gov Will be a total DISASTER!!

  4. Just because Bolsonaro has been voted out the industrialist , elites those who entice and influence those in government with wealth to do their bidding will not stop until they have their puppets in power .
So beware it is in these moments they will resort to the dark arts of thuggery , intimidation and assassinations probably with the aid of the Lets Go Brandon administration to the North .
Best of wishes , this has has been a long time coming , may it spread throughout the Americas .
    Be Safe .

  5. happy days are there again. it's terrible what the people have had to put up with having a right wing crazy in charge. i wish usa could get rid of our duopoly. viva brasil!

  6. It's beginning to look like Brazil, a country famous for its history of dodgy democracy, has finally arrived as a more democratic nation than either the US or Canada where one of two right-wing parties take turns as authoritarian dictatorships. I hope Lula has a long and prosperous term and he manages to make the kinds of changes for Brazil that bolster democracy even further. Viva Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva!!!

  7. He is a convicted criminal Brazil is dirty no one voted for Luka the establishment put him there just look at the corrupted judges of Brasilia sad sad day for Brazil socialism is coming your way
