15. Thanks for the conversation but I must say that I strongly disagree with your title which is critical of this exit strategy from the political right. There is no winning, we are not winning, calling our exit a “surrender” is taking the side of those who want no exit. An endless quagmire of lives and fortunate. This is the closest depiction of the stairway to hell is paved with good intentions.

18. The Taliban are not a nice group. Perhaps the American strategy is that the country collapses and the Americans invade again for forcefully, including the country's resources. No foreign power has ever won if Afghanistan.
