Last summer, during what some have called the largest social justice uprising in United States history, the lives of Black trans people were ignored. While many rightly raged against the murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, few know the names of Black trans people like Kim Wirtz, who have also been murdered by a racist policing and prison system. In Baltimore, trans activists from the LGBTQ organization Baltimore Safe Haven protested, demanding an end to police violence and an end to the erasure of the Black trans community. The Real News’ Eddie Conway talks to activists on the ground in Baltimore about their fight.

  1. Will we report on Haitian lives suffering USA imperialism? Another massacre on Belair Haiti yesterday , trans , citizens alike

  2. Yes! We will stand up for black trans men and women!!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

  3. The injustice against any of us is an injustice for all of us. Conversely, the liberation of one group adds to the liberation of the larger group of humankind. We cannot leave any behind and we will only move forward if we all move forward. Every person deserves the human rights we have as a birthright. We are all a part of one family and each of our lives matter.

  4. The reason many black ppl have problems with this is bc the BLM movement started over the death of (presumably straight) black men. I blame the Mainstream media for not covering the violence against black trans women. Thank you to Gay USA for the work they do covering Trans news every week.

  5. Advocating for Blacks/African Americans is enough. Why do they think they are different because they are trans? You fall under the umbrella regardless of sexual orientation. To me, this is an attempt by feminists and LGBTQ to co-opt the recent political mobilization for their own agenda.

  6. Shame on what used to be the real news network. Trying to promote obvious feelings as facts. If the penis is s cut off and shaped like a Virginia it's a wound that does not lead to a womb. How about doing a story on that.

  7. Yes black Trans lives matter but they also need to learn to be more honest and not deceive people who they really are just because you look like a pretty woman doesn't give you the right to deceive someone only to let them know when it's time to have sex that you're not a woman and then get mad when you get an ass whooping or killed a little more Integrity would save a lot of trans lives
