  1. Went on a cruise from PR and our cab driver identified the Jones act as a key point of failure, something that needs to be eliminated asap, in order for the chains to be lifted.

  2. Puerto Rico should be independent and demand reparations just like so-called Black Americans are demanding reparations from the US government for years of slavery and discrimination. If criminal Israel can get paid by US citizens, Puerto Rico should get reparations for colonialism and US sponsored discrimination. Tell those lazy politicians in Washington to get off their asses and do their jobs. Israel is getting paid and illegal aliens are getting paid. Why not Americans and Puerto Rico?

  4. you mention Puerto Rico developing its own monetary system?! do you know what that takes? on top of having something to back it and a ton of problems that would affect the monetary going on of this country you would have to have someone print it,and not to forget those people that make a living on counterfeiting,,,,the currency could be ruined overnight !?

  5. Puerto Rico cannot become a state if people think their paycheck is small try taking out federal taxes !? You keep talking about being able to vote???? the vote means nothing , look what happened when Trump got elected he and others have learned you work with the system and it favors the rich as it always will look who is running [ruining ?!} the country rich and soon to be rich.who pays more than the job pays to get the job people who can afford it or people that know it is a great investment,,,look at the Clintons, look it really does not matter the way it goes the decision will be made not so much for the good of the people but the good of the rich, and yes it is true the rich get richer,,greed always wins out

  6. good vid, as a person that came here for retirement (i am a boriken) there are a great many things that could be fixed but it is GREED that is keeping it from happening.

  7. Absolutely!! Given a chance, PR will rise to the occasion and beat the odds, whatever the odds! We definitely have to work, a lot of work, but will overcome independent of the u.s!! Negative observation and opinions is absurd, many countries survive independently, why not PR? Please!!!

  8. Jamaica is just slightly bigger than Puerto Rico and it became independent from Great Brirtain in 1962 and they never looked back.
Besides, what does size have to do with economic success?

  9. Rico's are too damn lazy..Independant is better for them or any state in the United Snskes..but they wont know ..cause they're too darn lazy…BOTTOMLINE..

  10. ….. Independence only works if there is national unity among the people, at this moment their is no such momentum among them .

They also lack vision and collective aspirations … they love to be handled by someone else , so they could place blame on Washington for all of their problems .

  11. 50% of Puerto Ricans live in the USA today. It's a textbook colony. How could independence make things any worse? The population has fallen by like 20% since hurricane Maria.

  12. Independence only pa Puerto Rico….you force us to join your evil USA and Isis will be the least of your problems.🖕🏻👉🏼🇺🇸

  13. Every state in the United States would be better off as a single state. Puerto Rico should be a thriving metropolis just off of the tourism industry. But all of that money is extracted back to the States.people need to wake up to what America has become this is not the land of apple pie and white picket fences anymore.

  14. Better times are ahead for Puerto Rico. With the Congress set to nationalize legal marijuana, the country can become a leader in marijuana production and benefit from the production of HEMPCRETE which allows the construction of hurricane-proof homes.

  15. Puerto Rico pays $3 billion into the federal treasury to receive $20 billion in federal spending. That return on tax revenue is much better than any state in the US.
An independent currency and monetary policy provides the ability to accelerate the rate of reduction of the purchasing power of money by reducing interest rates and permitting government deficit spending. Then the economy can be stimulated, but the cost of stimulus that people tend to forget about is the reduction of the purchasing power of money including especially wages and pensions. That's why stimulus lasts until wages catch up, and pensions might never catch up. Stimulus takes purchasing power away from savings, wage earners and pensioners in order to spend it or allow banks to loan it at a low interest rate. That's why stimulus can be very good for an economy or it can be ruinous.
How can more awareness be raised about how destructive the Jones Act is for the economy of Puerto Rico?
That seems like the easiest problem to fix. It is a very good time to talk about federal solutions because Puerto Rico will be an issue in the Democratic primary.
