Angelina County, Texas — Lufkin police department released footage from Officer Seth Thompson’s in-car and body-worn camera videos of an incident from today in which they assisted Angelina County Sheriff’s Office in the arrest of Pedro Martinez Jr. Martinez was wanted by ACSO on numerous charges including sexual assault, burglary of a habitation with the intent to commit sexual assault, stalking, evading arrest and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. LPD assisted them in a manhunt for Martinez last month off of Brown Road and Harmony Hill Drive, but he evaded capture. After receiving information from deputies earlier this afternoon that Martinez had been seen leaving a home on Martin Luther King Drive, Officer Seth Thompson caught up to him and initiated a traffic stop.

Martinez refused the officer’s command to stop and continued onto Loop 287, reaching speeds in excess of 100 mph with deputies and additional officers in pursuit. As Martinez exited onto Chestnut Street he brake checked Officer Thompson, causing a minor rear-end collision. Martinez continued on into the Fuller Springs area where he eventually fled his vehicle on foot on Mockingbird Trail. Officer Thompson ran Martinez down, deployed his Taser and took him into custody. LPD will file on Martinez for evading arrest with a vehicle, while ACSO will be handling his warrants and any additional charges.
