Los Angeles, California — On September 26, 2020, around 9:59 p.m., a male Hispanic, later identified as 29-year-old, Jose Guzman, entered the front lobby of the Harbor Community Police Station. Guzman was met by the Harbor Area uniformed desk officer at which time Guzman engaged the officer in a physical altercation by punching him on the face causing the officer to fall backwards onto the floor. While on the ground Guzman began to struggle over the officer’s gun and managed to remove the gun from the officer’s holster and gain control of the gun. Guzman continued his assault and hit the officer on the head with the gun causing lacerations and immediate bleeding. As Guzman stood up he pointed the gun at the officer and began to retreat towards the front door. The on-duty Assistant Watch Commander (AWC) responded to the front lobby at which point the officer informed the AWC that Guzman had his gun. As the AWC turned to address Guzman, he turned and fired at the AWC which precipitated an Officer-Involved-Shooting.

Guzman was not struck by gunfire and fled the station in his vehicle. Responding officers observed Guzman’s vehicle and initiated a pursuit which terminated at Pacific Avenue and 17th Street, where he was taken into custody involving of a non-categorical use of force. Guzman sustained minor abrasions, was medically treated and was released for booking. A loaded 9mm Berretta semi-automatic pistol was recovered from Guzman’s vehicle. The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the officer to a local hospital where he was medically treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released. LAPD’s specialized Force Investigation Division (FID) responded to the scene and began interviewing witnesses and collecting forensic evidence. A representative from the Office of the Inspector General responded and monitored the on-scene investigation.

  1. How in the world does a person walk into a police station with violence and not get shot up?! There's more security at my stinking Court house!

  2. is it insane of me to wonder if he was instructed to get himself tossed in jail to serve the purpose of bad folks who needed him there to do something for them?

  3. Literally GTA V levels of stupidity here. Let's go on a police station and try to fist fight the shit out of them.

  4. I mean no disrespekt but whats wrong with this police officer, he dont know how to fight or selve defense, gets back, fall on the back like a turtle and lays down? This pour officer female nearly gets shot, because of his stupidness. If anyone tell me this story I would not believe it… Oh my god, if you need help, you call the police, and a guy like he is comes… good night ladys and gantleman. That is my opinion, I feel sorry for all proud, strong and hard working cops!!!

  5. After 6 minutes into the video the real cops finally showed up. Seriously this is where we are at with our police force. The station is manned by a bunch of old fat dudes and a tiny little blonde chick because standards had to be dropped since no one wants to be a cop in this country because of the media.

  6. Daffy Duck: reks Officer INSIDE what appears to be a police department
Female cop: prances after suspect “hEy!”
This video was embarrassing to say the least.

  7. That cop sucks and should give up being a police officer. That guy could easily have used his gun and shot him. He has no business being a cop

  8. this is bullshit a to z.
a police station with no one manning a reception station, that is tucked away in a blind spot. someone is being attacked and one none can hear what is going on. an officer is confronted, allows a stranger, an unarmed man, to walk into his personal space, attack and disarm him. as he is challenged, he has NO empty handed skills to defend himself.
    bloody lame and UPSETTING!!!!!!!

  9. He must have really believed that after that he could just go home and make a coffee and watch TV. He clearly didn’t realise that once caught, it was going to hurt, a lot!
