Attorney General Becerra is seeking $477K and 3 positions to handle records requests under SB 1421.

Skinner: “It’s hard to see why you need additional funding and positions when you’re not releasing records.”

  1. In the Marines, we would conduct a surprise drug bust in the barracks at 0300 by posting a sentry at every exit, then ushering ALL men out of the building.
Then the search would begin. If you were found with drugs in your personal gear, you were cited.

As far as retro-active files NOT BEING allowed to be accessed is like us letting the Marines know we were coming in at o'dark thirty for a drug inspection bust so they could ditch their drugs before we arrived. It's a cover-up of guilt. It's Bullshit! Make it RETRO!

  2. Petitions aren't worth much other than mostly symbolic.
What's really needed is a ballot initiative/referendum to get out to the voters directly.
I've written about this in these comment sections of auditors in the past.
Things like records transparency, special prosecutors to investigate all police misconduct. Not IA or county prosecutors.
Police being required to purchase malpractice insurance. A 3 strikes and you're fired and not allowed back in LE ever again. Etc.

  3. OMG that was an end run by behind the scene lobbyists that will take a big bit out of the law by not having access to past discipline!

  4. From what I understand, the cops are destroying all the old records as fast as they can. The last thing they want you to see are the personnel files and details of the instances of officer involved use of force resulting in death. Burning documents just like the Nazi's, sounds about right.

  5. That is bullshit. So basically the AG is saying cops would have not lied or would have acted differently if they knew the records would be made public

  6. Five O you are a true American patriot .
You do what no one else will do .

  7. If they did it retroactively i wonder how many chief, captain etc in the higher up would be charged/arrested or in jail by that information and how many cases would have to be reviewed with that information?? or even re-open in the light of their corruption and lies to the courts and judges? Many victims would actually obtain justice and retribution for their loss, their suffering and ease their pain. Just look at all auditors doing nothing wrong except filming their sorry asses and exposing their tyranny who got arrested, beaten, jailed for no reason. 🙁

  8. Thank you- my friend Valerie who's son was killed by lapd harbor division in 2017 was one of many families who went to Sacramento every month for a year to get SB 1421 PASSED thanks for the update
