Thumbnail: which one is a BB Gun!? Exactly.

Carrying BB guns around was a part of my childhood. It’s been a part of my kids’ childhood. I fully encourage and support teaching kids how to safely understand and handle firearms.

That said, not everyone passes that on to their kids and here are some of the possible dangers if we neglect this responsibility.

  1. Man I wish that was the guy that encountered Tamir Rice, he would still be alive. It's good to see a conversation between the kids and the cop. I'm sure the cop used their military experience to not jump the gun but still have control of the situation. Kids do dumb things I remember the speach about toy guns growing up and I took that to heart but not every one gets that message and kids will still take from the cookie jar.

  2. Nj just passed a law about this. If it doesnt have an orange tip it's a similar charge as unlawful possession of a firearm

  3. They were some smart young men for listening to the officer and doing what he said. Sounds like they were just being kids not thinking about it but I'm sure they have thought about it now! I thought it was cool the officer explained things to them. Sometimes kids just need someone to explain things. 🙂

  4. I had a friend that was a Marine. He took me shooting in the wild one time (California) .We were shooting for about an hour. Then out of nowhere a pulled up and started walkiing towards us. This was my first time shooting a gun (Ar-15). He said hi and tje first thing i did was put the rifle on the ground. He just told us we had to go. I had never thought a cop would pull ul or even come close to me when i had a rifle in my.hands. But my better instinct told me to put it down.

  5. where About in MI you from?….and are replica bbguns street legal here? they sell a replica glock….its impossible to tell that its a replica from a distance…even close up most people couldnt tell…. im from SE Mi..?

  6. I had a friend in middle school who would literally shoot people with an airsoft rifle from his front porch as they drove by. I thought for sure he would have ended up getting arrested or shot. (I'm really surprised he didn't)
I took what he did an learned what NOT to do when handling any sort of firearm, especially in public.

  7. Great video Mike and play guns actually look real these days you would think they would make them look as they are sold for children, that officer told them the truth and it could have ended so differently I’m glad it didn’t. Thanks for the education on guns and have a Merry Christmas 🎄🎁

  8. LOEEEEEE IS THAT YOU???? THE MAN WHO CREATED LOOGLE AND MOTLEY LOE…… WOKE UP HEARING THE VOICE THAN LOOKED ATVTHE SCREEN COULDN'T TELL ONE FROM THE OTHER…..

  9. One other thing tell your kids is that they shouldn't shoot at people with them. I was at a bus stop once and a few of them drove by and shot at me from their cars. had I been armed I might have shot them because all I found was that I was in pain, suddenly, in several spots, and bleeding from the leg a little bit and that a bunch of what sounded like bullets or some projectile was hitting the areas around me. I wasn't sure if I was getting shot with a real gun or what was going on in that moment, so had I been armed, I might have been inclined to start shooting back. Doing that isn't a game or a joke. It's assault. It's actually a crime. Maybe a felony in some places. Had it hit me in the eye, it absolutely would have been, as that would have been a serious injury. You can go to jail. But it's also a good way to get yourself shot. You point that pellet gun at the wrong person or shoot at the wrong person, you could die. They could be armed and react, opening fire on you before there's any time to tell them it's a BB gun.

  10. Did you shoot each other with them? My idiot friends did it, then of course someones fucking eye got shot out. Third person in my high school to loose an eye. One to a finger during a basketball game, one idiot got shot by a bb gun, and a third had a very unfortunate accident riding his bicycle and had a piece of metal shoot into his eye from a busy road.

  11. I was at a friend's house one time on county land in his yard. We (adults) were plinking cans off a transformer box with my red ryder. Someone called it in because sheriff's deputies showed up. I heard "drop the gun", turned around, saw the fat one drawing his 45 out of his holster. I dropped my red ryder almost by reflex. He put his gun back. Dunno if he refastened the thumb break. While he was trying to defend/downplay his actions, get our IDs, and admit we were doing nothing wrong, his skinny sunglasses-clad cohort was trying to look as cool and above me as he could. Head tilted back not quite enough to look down his nose. His hands interlocked as his arms hung in front of him. I know those guys can't tell what's real and not until things slow down, but FFS. Fuck those guys.

  12. Do you not think maybe he meant black people with gun and police officers reactions, rather than children and fake guns. I feel that was his message, "people are being shot and killed for brandishing weapons, I don't want it to be you guys"

  13. When I was a kid I did some really stupid stuff with toy guns that looked real. With all the things going on today, I could have probably been one of those kids or worse. Playing with toy guns is fine but you have to teach your kids not to take them outside your property, and it's a good idea to talk to your neighbors and let them know that your kids play with toy guns so that they don't freak out and call the cops if they see them with them. Maybe that was okay back in the day but this is 2018 and unfortunately things have changed.

  14. Airsoft guns and BB guns are required to have an orange plastic tip on the end of the barrel in Canada and in England are required to be either two tone green or two tone orange so that they can be differentiated from real firearms.

  15. Just yesterday I saw a Crosman SNR 357 revolver bb gun. It is all metal and uses the Co2 cartridges. The alarming thing is that Crosman decided to use metallic cartridges in the revolver. The bbs/pellets shoot through the opening in the middle. It is so realistic that if one saw the cylinder from the front, the other person opposite the fake gun would swear that the kid was going to shoot him/her with hollow points. And Crosman's naming of it, SNR 357. Why have the initials that would seem like "Snub Nosed Revolver .357 Magnum"?

  16. Yes he sounds like he would like to shoot a kid. For playing with a toy. But all he will do is say, I feared for my life. Then go Scot free. SCUMBAGS

  17. People are pussies. Stop being afraid of everything. Stop trying to criminalize toys. Man the fuck up. Ask a question or two before you call the cops on kids. Cops kill innocent people all the time. If you are the person who calls the cops on a innocent person and that person is hurt or killed by the police. You should be held financially responsible for them injuries. And if the cops harms a kid playing with a toy. The kids family should hurt the cops family. Playing with a toy is not a crime. My rights should always Trump the cops safety. If cops want to be safe go work somewhere else. You don't have to be a cop.

  18. a 16 year old here in sweden was shot dead recently for brandishing a toy gun… shot in the back… he had downs syndrome…

  19. Here is a small list of things I don't want to show a cop who has just stopped me: Stance and hand position common to attack/hand concealed in another object, furtive movement,
cylindrical and tube like objects of black or silver (possibly other colors too), electric screwdriver, wallet before being asked for ID ,phone, hair clipper, hose nozzle, spindled clothing, trash bag, dark gloved finger, shiny cigarette lighter, cosplay equipment, tool handle, broken off door handle or window crank, aerosol can, real weapon of any kind. So, Yea, if stopped I like to display both sides of empty hands and let the officer lead the interaction. It's happened.

  20. Guy seems to keep throwing egotistical comments in and then covering them over, cop came off super douchey

  21. When I was younger I found an old Daisy Lever action BB gun in my grandpas house and almost accidentally shot my sister’s eye out. BB guns are no joke. Since then I have learned proper gun safety and learned from my mistake. I’m lucky I never would have forgiven myself if my sister got seriously hurt.

  22. bullshit. none of this matters. cops need to wait until fired upon. period! death to murderous thugs in blue!!!
