Atlanta, Georgia — The Atlanta Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation have released officer bodycam, dashcam and surveillance video of the events leading up to the fatal shooting of Rayshard Brooks, 27. Brooks was fatally shot by an Atlanta police officer in the parking lot of a Wendy’s off University Avenue Friday night. The shooting led to the resignation of Atlanta Police Chief Erika Shields and Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms called for the immediate termination of the officer. The footage shows Officers Garrett Rolfe and Devin Brosnan speaking to Brooks for nearly 30 minutes on suspicion of DUI after apparently finding him asleep behind the wheel of his car in the drive-thru line of a Wendy’s restaurant.

After failing a field sobriety test, officers attempted to place Brooks into custody and a struggled ensued. The APD officer deployed a taser and during the struggle, Brooks grabbed and was in possession of the taser. Footage shows that Brooks has the taser in in his hand, runs a relatively short distance, and then appears to turn around and point the taser at the Atlanta officer. That is when officer reached down and retrieved his weapon from his holster and discharges and fires at Brooks, who goes down.

Garrett Rolfe, the Atlanta police officer who fatally shot Brooks has been terminated, Atlanta Police spokesman Carlos Campos said. Campos also said that the other officer involved in the call, Devin Brosnan, involved in the Rayshard Brooks case has been placed on administrative duty.

  1. It's obvious to me now that this cop was probably a bartender at side work and he was probably greatly insulted that this guy didn't remember any of the drinks

  2. In the state of Georgia if you drink something and you don't know what it is or if it's a mixed drink and if you don't know the ingredients they will shoot you and kill you

  3. French fries are billion dollar industry it comes to no surprise to me that people are being killed and murdered because of it

  4. I've seen this before people have been drugged and put in cars in the drive-thrus of McDonald's and Burger King to make it look like they have been driving and drinking and guess what none of them are alive today to tell the story

  5. He's definitely under the influence of something he's disorientated he can't keep the story straight but he's not stumbling he's not staggering he's awake now they could have let the guy walk home see back in the day cop would you say in New York anyhow cop would just let you make you walk home and take a cab. Things have changed now you know and the eyes of the law he's already committed the crime he endangered lives when he was behind the wheel but back in the day they overlooked it all right nobody got hurt you know let's just send them on his way and they don't do that no more. French fries french fries french fries french fries

  6. They played with this guy for 40 minutes they should have just the rest of them for a DUI instead of doing all these tests and questions. So the guy's dead and he didn't even get his french fries

  7. So officers can shoot tasers but can’t take being hit with a taser. A taser is a weapon but won’t kill you, they should’ve responded with a taser instead of deadly force.

  8. The ineptitude of those policemen to subdue a person, caused him to die. They are not prepared, the guy was fleeing unarmed, but they preferred the easiest way, to shoot.

  9. When bystanders start yelling, it is called the "Birmingham Bamboozle". It is designed to confuse anyone who hears it and to interfere with police taking evidence. Watching a black person being arrested and they do this, it is amazing.

  10. I dont understand this, that this officer is not in danger what so ever.. the worst he could have happened to him is to be shot with a taser, and they are two officers so there is no risk, if you wanna make some mental flips of him suddenly going back and trying rop the officer etc.
but yeah it is a weird society… it is like when you watching videos from Brazil or Venezuela or Mexico and countries where the normal practice from western world police are not the referemce, and that your life as a police officer needs to be in imminent danger before you can execute people., but the USA is not a western country that's for sure..
one sick puppy of a sectarian nation.
and if this insanity continues it will not take long before the US tumbles and evolves in many smaller nations.
From a danish perspective.. this is one sick puppy of a kill rate and the consequences is non-existence..
If its one of your loved ones that get killed. please don't go after all officers.. find the ones that did it and held them personally accountable, and hopefully, the system will help.

  11. And what did the cops do wrong here after a big dude resists arrest, steals a cop’s taser, runs away and then fires on them with it? Riddle me that.

  12. What the hell do these people want police to do? The police were 100% justified to shoot him as a taser in Georgia is considered a deadly weapon. Perhaps these ignorant assholes should look up the law before they berate the police. What do they want the police to do, let him get away and possibly cause more harm to those around him? HMMM?! I hope this new DA brings the light to the story and finds the officer not guilty.

  13. Let’s start with Rayshard Brooks.
    1. Had he cooperated he would be alive today. But
    2. With such an emphasis on fundraising police are going to pursue every DUI they possibly can. Not too long ago police occasionally gave you a break. Example: 20ish years ago, drunk guy was passed out at the wheel in front of the garage door to our apartment complex. He was occasionally lurching forward and eventually he was going to hit the garage door. Also no one could enter or leave so people were pissed off lol. The police came, woke him up and he went home. No arrest, no nothing. Today he would have got a DUI for sure. Did you know that cops were even caught fabricating fake DUIs recently? Yeah, crazy.

Ok now on to the 2 cops.
    1. 2 cops couldn’t pin and cuff one guy. Was it a lack of training? Lack of physical fitness? As a cop you need that training and fitness and a certain mindset. Always be ready to go from 0 to 100.
    2. Before Brooks fired the taser was he a deadly threat? Maybe. Probably? After Rayshard Brooks shot and missed with the taser, he was much less of a threat since a taser can only be shot once. Is it justifiable that the cop shot him AFTER the taser was no longer a threat? Is it possible for your brain to register that the threat is over before you reflexively return fire, with all the adrenaline? Was the threat even over? Brooks already demonstrated that he’ll shoot a taser at them. What might he do next? Or is this a police training issue? I don’t know but will honestly say I slightly favor the cop. It’s a borderline shooting though for sure. So much of this incident is very borderline.
    3. The cop who fired missed some shots and ended up damaging property. That property could have been an innocent person. Again, lack of training.

  14. Good thing they recorded the whole incident !! Calling the police pigs why ?? get a life dude you are the only pig on the scene !! That’s the problem with people they get caught doing stupid shit(like falling asleep in the middle of a drive through) then resist arrest and get shot !! Brainless .

  15. Feel bad for the cops that have to deal with this type of stuff, getting punched in the face and shot at by your own taser for just trying to do your job and get drunk drivers (who kill people every year) off the streets.
