Keep in mind as well. These back country folk explored their back 40's since childhood fishing, hunting and swimming, and they'll remember the smallest most hidden fishing holes that Noone would expect and they know these spots better than sonar. Because I know places like this on my Reservation. Don't get complacent.
This may be moot, but at around minute 22, the pond you said never hit 5', and there was something down there that looked like it had at least 2 tires, but you said it had no hike because it didn't make a shadow okay?
This pond seemed to have a brush line, albeit a narrow one, above the water level, but you could tell that the water used to be deeper And that along with the property owner who gave you permission saying it was 8 ft deep, I don't understand why you didn't consider that, depending on how long ago it was, could it just be sedimented in and not protruding above the sediment level very far?
Since you take into consideration that roads' paths change over the years, guard rails get built (and for that matter, repaired) all the time, is there any reason you don't consider that ponds that are too shallow may not have been previously, due to drought or even developments being built turning some water bodies to become sources of drinking water, or cattle being added or other ag uses, as well as sediment building up and also covering up what was previously the bottom?
(This is meant as brainstorming, not criticism or argumentatively.
I have one other such question that I will post on the pertinent search that was the nurse driving home in the foggy storm.
I know more brilliant minds than mine have considered more angles than I can even conceive of, but sometimes I have a flash of brilliance if I can just put it in the right words.
People just take for granted whatever the police say. Whether it be “we’ve searched everywhere, etc” chased down all leads “ well most people will just believe what the police say. And be good citizens and don’t question what we tell you. But there’s a small percentage that don’t take what they are told & questions everything like they should. These guys are putting in a real effort with thought and facts & science to do a complete search not just a cursory look. And most police departments are thankful yet they don’t like for their efforts to be outdone. So you can see in some videos that they are not super happy, helpful, that someone besides their department has solved the missing issue after they have declared they searched thoroughly.
