The Port Orange Boatramp is notorious for a parking tax if you get there after 7am. The tax comes in the form of parking tickets since there is not enough parking.

My guess is 142 tickets between the 3 days. I have a records request in to determine!

  1. 121 tickets in 3 days. $3000 + dollars in one weekend! That translates into $12,000 a month in tickets. Would you make more parking if you were making over 100k a year in fines??????????

  2. I wonder if it’s possible to manufacture gloves with fingerprints?
Imagine cops running such prints and then they come back as deceased criminals from the past.

  3. I’m gonna guess the cop didn’t make use of that special parking space and instead stopped by each vehicle or group of vehicles, left the cruiser running, while writing the tickets.
    While blocking the road.

  4. Lawbreakers breaking the parking laws. How naive! Did they expect to be exempt? The price of disobedience. Nothing to do? Go clean your garage.

  5. They are taking advantage, the patrol men are not to blame, it’s the town and city administrators taking advantage of what is a serious situation in order to make up for the lack of people about to take money from.. why not just make it a parking area and try and help people instead of kicking them, this is what you are truly thought of by the people you feed. It’s the same everywhere. What a great business to have.

  6. NEED TO COLLECT ALL THE TICKETS AND PUT THEM IN A PILE, THEN HOG TIE THE POLICE CHIEF AND TAKE A STICK AND SHOVE THEM ALL UP HIS ASS.

  7. They're starting to roll out $1,000+ fines for violating the unlawful, and stupid mask and stay at home orders. The courts do not want to lose cash during the Covert19 Scamdemic.

  8. So I usually agree with you on everything… but are you saying that you think people should be able to abandon their vehicle wherever the want… no tickets should be written?

  9. Taking your boat out is criminal. As a native of this place, I am embarrassed and disgusted. The gov't, at all levels, have gotten off their chain. I wonder what has to be done about mad dogs?

  10. A policing force exists because we the people let them. We the people need to take control and close it down or change it out. Until law enforcement realize that we the people can shut them down and put them out of business / change them out, then maybe, just maybe we can get positive change. We have let the politicians turn a law enforcement into cash cows. This was and is not the intent but is now part of the problem. Time for a change. We are a country of laws and need them and need an entity to enforce those laws. But, the whole process must be kept simple and right now it is way to complicated.

  11. Sorry side but you said it in the first 30 seconds of the video – "everyone is out so there is no parking available". Yeah, the marina lot is full – that doesn't give anyone the right or permission to just park anywhere! They should all get tickets. If a parking lot is full (anywhere) doesn't give you a pass to park your vehicle anywhere you feel like it! Maybe next time they will tow them.

  12. James Madison Audits I often agree with you but on this, it is a bit of a stretch. If police are 'taking the opportunity' to ticket, wouldn't the same apply to those that illegally parked? They are attempting to 'take advantage' of the reopening by parking wherever they want. I can't feel bad for them. If you park next to a 'NO PARKING' sign then you should expect to get a ticket. It'd be no different than if you can't find a spot at a store so you just took the handicapped spot. You deserve the ticket.
That being said, it would have been nice to see the city be more proactive and maybe have an officer direct overflow parking into the areas that are designated 'No Parking' as I'm sure they had to anticipate this sort of free for all. But at the end of the day they didn't do that. Maybe the increase in fines will help pay for more parking at this ramp…..After all it is a 'FREE' ramp with other facilities available at it. Bottom line though is that if you knowingly and openly break the law….then you should have to accept the consequences of your actions. Auditors are always saying that police should be held accountable for their actions….I fully agree, but the same holds true for civilian citizens as well. I apologize for being a bit long winded and appreciate what you do, but this just seems a bit petty. Stay safe and keep up the (mostly) good work.

  13. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.
If they didn't enforce this at all, the signs would be essentially void over time and people will complain about the signs' existence in the first place.
If they only partially enforce it (i.e. only right around the signs), people will point at others and be all "BUT HE DID IT AND GOT AWAY WITH IT!"
If they enforce it fully, you get people on bikes claiming that they do it just for money, have no mercy and that people apparently "have to" do this because boating is now essential or something.

  14. I went down there for Snapper Days….5.am. …waited in line, launched my boat with 30 boats and trailers behind me. Pulled out of the ramp…and NO PARKING. Well, I guess I coulda got in line to "retrieve" my boat..( behind the 30 boats and trailers still in line)….but decided to find parking elswhere even if I had to walk a ways. There was a stretch of grass on the northwest side that DID NOT HAVE ANY "NO PARKING SIGNS". I walked up and down several times to double check, and since it was outside of the park, decided it was okay. They wrote me a ticket. I tried to get it rescinded for lack of signage…but got nothing but attitiude and a firm "No". A few days later…THEY ADDED MORE SIGNS TO THAT AREA!! DAMMIT! They KNEW there was inadequate signage…gave out tickets anyway! It is an obvious revenue generating mechanism . I have some solutions…as 'writing parking tickets' is obviously "not" the solution #1) Provide adequate parking. #2) If adequate parking cannot be provided, then REGULATE THE PARKING LOT. Once maximum capacity has been reached, have boaters try elswhere , or wait for an opening. #3) The sin of all sins : Let people park in the grass!!!~ #4) Charge for parking. That in itself may provide enough deterrent to keep crowds at the ramp down. Heck, you can even give the parking lot $$ to the Port Orange Police Dept ! Asa an aside …..An unregulated parking lot in in busy or chaotic circumstances, is a recipe for disaster and potential lawsuits as the city may be found liable for it's inaction in obviously active circumstances that necessitate supervision of the area.

  15. James have you ever seen landscapers with exempt plates I live in Carson nevada and the landscapers at the capital have exempt plates and the park on the red curbs
