American prisons are so much different to British ones. I remember the first time going to jail in Britain. When you get there they give you a kind of "welcome pack" with tobacco and a couple of other things and yeah you need a strip search but it's pretty half arsed in comparison. That chilled kind of attitude is what I think makes British prisons less violent. I can't even count the amount of times I thought twice about getting into a fight or whatever because I knew I wouldn't be able to smoke or be out of the cell playing table tennis or pool.
