In the 4. part of Into the Abyss (Prison Documentary) the Internationally acclaimed filmmaker Werner Herzog turns a keen and understanding eye to the fates of two men who destroyed their lives, and those of others, by a senseless triple murder. He gazes into the abyss of the human soul as he lets the two – one of whom will be executed eight days after the interview – sketch their version of the events. “A poignant, lyrical documentary that ranks among the director’s finest and leaves the viewer with plenty to reflect upon and digest,†wrote Screen Daily

Thanks for uploading this great documentaries.
Wish all prison officers was like the p. O in the beginning of this. He really has a good soul.
Honestly that s the best documentary, I ever saw. So much objectivity and not this commentary style that tries to tell us, what we should think about something. And this in combination with awesome structured interviews and this great way of telling the Story from both sides and let us feel the empathy for both the victoms and the Killers.
💖
The captain is clearly a nice, kind hearted person. That is why he felt all of those feelings. But the person he placed on the gurney never felt any feelings while performing the atrocious acts.
Death penalty doesn't stop people from killing, so it's pointless, and a state should always be morally superior to humans in pain. That's why all societies have rules, which can't just be pushed aside. No civilised government can morally defend murdering it's own citizens, no matter their crime.
Watching these documentaries has given me a different perspective on capital punishment. I was pro CP but now, I'm against. These documentaries should be shown in schools.
I can understand why certain people stand against the capital punishment. But let think about it objectively. What is the rational behind any punishment? the ultimate objective of the punishment is not to minimize the impact of the actual crime, yet, it is to minimize the risk of a similar crime to occur in the future.
Why was the program divided into 4 parts?
Another excellent Werner Herzog documentary on death row.
Dont know what the father did but he is the one that would get a second chance, I think he would do good working with troubled kids 🤷â€â™‚ï¸ maybe just me dreaming but at least he seams more aware of the impact of life.
How can society condemn murder, when society condones murder as a punishment?
I'm glad I live in a country that banned the death penalty. Nevertheless, the victims who died and their family are in my heart. May they rest in peace.
" no one has the right to take another persons life" – Exactly, and if you do, you pay with yours. Full stop.
I really hope someone e middle man pulled a fast one on Jason’s dopey wife and smuggled out their very own ‘sample’ to her. Between his gene pool and her single digit IQ pity the poor child that was born. His victims never had the opportunity to either have children or see their grandchildren.
This chic is crazy!!!!!!
😂 The father said death penalty doesn't deter anything. It certainly does.
Alternative to the death penalty: sentence the worst inmates to life in solidarity confinement without parole 23h lockdown. That’s a more humain way to punish than the death penalty.
That prison guard captain very clearly has ptsd; he should go after his prison pension. He thought he’d be professional and do his job as it needed to be done but you can’t kill all those people without something happening to you if have a soul
What a weird thing to ask someone to discribe the hands of someone. What sort of lessons are we supposed to learn about from that? Do you have a weird fetish?? Do you like hearing about spesific details about random stuff?
What a pussy. . They didn't give their victims any thought. Man the hell up
The Christian way. Execution does nothing but satisfy these people's need for revenge.
There some real good documentrys on here made me subscribe
Haha death row groupie.
I only feel bad for those responsible for executing the condemned. A complete nightmare
What about all those people who were wrongly convicted and got death for a crime they didn’t commit? Just 1 wrong conviction 1 wrongful death is 1 too many, that’s enough for any human with morals to be against the death penalty. And we all know theres been alot more than “1†innocent man and woman, who has suffered such fate… and for their families is suffering worse than death. May god bless you.
So sad how they care more about these sadistic murderers than the victims families. They both deserve death and those jurors who spared Burkett were duped by tears. I pray no one ever has to experience this type of loss
What a mess humanity has become.
I'd have no problem pulling the switch on the chair , wouldn't bother me one bit doin his job ,
That baby looked like ET!
Dudes, breathing is driving me nuts
The inmates suffer
The birds man…the birds…that's the key to everything in life
He looks and sounds very disturbed or traumatized.
Well unless he is set financially he has let an emotionally driven desicion potentially have a devastating effect on his later years.
He should of got life but he showed no remorse.
like your dad told you if you do the crime you take your punishment. it's up to you if you want to listen or not.
